Ministry of Women’s Children’s and Youth Affairs (MoWCYA) – Module Development

A consultative meeting was held on August 14-15, 2015 for reviewing and enriching the three manuals (Positive Parenting; Result Based Competency Assessment Framework for Mobilization and Awareness Creation Programs; and National Guideline to Engage Men and Boys for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment) that the Ministry of Women, Children, and Youth Affairs (MoWCYA) drafted in collaboration with its development partners. The meeting organized by the MoWCYA took place in Bishoftu, and involved representatives from the Women, Children, and Youth Affairs Bureaus in Afar, Gambela, Tigray, Amhara and SNNPR regions, as well as representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations including the Addis Ababa University Gender Office, ILO, Pathfinder International, Norwegian Aid, NiaCCFD, and other concerned bodies. The draft manuals were presented at the meeting and discussed both in plenary and groups, and inputs were gathered to refine and finalize them.

Ms. Bethelhem Wubshet of NiaCCFD attended the workshop and participated in the discussion of the modules providing inputs both in group discussions and plenary sessions. Nia CCFD’s representative, Dr. Emebet remarked, “The meeting was importatn in that people from different regional bureaus, relevant sectors, governmental and nongovernmental organizations participated to give their comments, suggestions and feedback. The effort done by the Ministry to participate and engage participants from different relevant areas is very constructive in refining the manuals.”  She reviewed two of the modules, ‘Positive Parenting’ and ‘Male Engagement’ and provided inputs for finalizing the modules.
